On April 25th, XPENG Motors showcased its XPENG X9, G6, G9, and P7i models at the 2024 Beijing International Auto Show, announcing the global launch of its XOS.5.1.0 system, which will be fully rolled out on May 20th. Additionally, XPENG’s “Land Aircraft Carrier” split-body flying car will commence pre-sales in the fourth quarter of 2024, while its new brand MONA will officially launch in June.
During the press conference, He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPENG Motors, stated: “Next, XPENG Motors will commence public testing of the new version of AI+X9, centered around the XPENG X9 model.” As a seven-seater MPV, the XPENG X9 delivered a cumulative total of 7,872 units from January to March 2024. The XPENG X9 boasts advanced intelligent driving capabilities, thanks to the technical empowerment of the SEPA2.0 Fuyao technological architecture. It is not only the MPV model with rear-wheel steering as a standard feature, but also comes equipped with core technologies such as an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system, an 800V silicon carbide platform, and front and rear integrated aluminum die-casting, offering flexible handling and safety protection capabilities, along with advantages like ultra-fast charging and extended range.
Currently, with the rapid development and popularization of large AI models, smart vehicles have become the forefront of AI technology applications. As an explorer of future transportation, XPENG Motors has announced the global launch of its AI Tianji system, marking the company’s comprehensive entry into the AI era. XPENG Motors has announced that on May 20th, the AI Tianji system will be fully rolled out and cover all Pro and Max versions of its four models: XPENG X9, G6, G9, and P7i, enabling XPENG car owners to enjoy a “new car” experience free of charge.
It is understood that the AI Tianji system is the industry’s first operating system that comprehensively applies AI technology to smart cabins and intelligent driving. Based on the deep application of AI large models, XPENG Motors’ life assistant, AI Xiao P, will possess a higher level of understanding and be able to provide users with attentive butler-style services by personalizing and combining over 100 cabin functions.
In terms of “human-machine co-driving,” XPENG Motors’ AI bodyguard, through the upgrade of SR perception capabilities, can expand the scene perception range to the size of 1.8 standard football fields and accurately identify more than 50 targets.
In terms of AI-driven intelligent driving, XPENG Motors’ travel assistant, AI Driver, has undergone significant improvements in visual perception and control capabilities. Through AI chauffeur and AI parking features, it provides users with a more convenient and intelligent travel experience. Notably, the AI chauffeur function leverages powerful self-learning capabilities to accurately memorize driving routes during manual driving. With just one learning session, the system can generate customized driving routes, offering users intelligent assisted driving coverage throughout the entire journey. Each user can select up to 10 routes, with each route being up to 100km long.
During the press conference, XPENG Motors also announced that its 800kW liquid-cooled S5 supercharger will undergo a comprehensive upgrade in the third quarter of 2024. The charging speed will reach an industry-leading rate of “over 1km per second,” significantly enhancing the travel efficiency and charging experience for car owners, effectively addressing users’ concerns about battery range.
While continuously building technical competitive advantages, XPENG Motors is also actively exploring new possibilities for future transportation. In the XPENG Huitian exhibition area, the company’s land-air integrated flying car made its first appearance at an international auto show. It was announced that the “Land Aircraft Carrier” modular flying car has moved towards airworthiness certification and will commence pre-sales in the fourth quarter of 2024.
In terms of deepening industry collaboration, XPENG Motors has signed a strategic framework agreement with Volkswagen Group on EEA electronic and electrical architecture technology, jointly exploring more possibilities for future transportation. In addition, XPENG Motors will launch its new brand, MONA, in June, aiming to become a global pioneer in the popularization of AI-driven intelligent vehicles.
With the deep empowerment of AI large models across the entire automotive industry chain, XPENG Motors is leveraging these models to further develop its intelligent technology ecosystem, enabling its smart products to continuously evolve and accelerating its layout in the second half of the intelligent era.
